What Is Glass CNC Machining?
Glass CNC machining is a computer-controlled machining process used to shape brittle glass materials into precise custom parts. It can include drilling, milling, slotting, contour cutting, edge grinding, chamfering and other drawing-based operations.
Unlike metal machining, glass CNC machining requires controlled tool paths, diamond tooling, coolant flow and suitable feed rates to reduce chipping, cracking and thermal stress. The process is commonly used when a glass part requires more than simple cutting, especially when the design includes holes, grooves, inner profiles, stepped structures or positioning features.
Glass CNC machining is suitable for both prototype parts and small-to-medium production batches where accuracy, repeatability and custom geometry are important.

Machined Feature Types
Holes and Counterbores
CNC drilling can produce through holes, blind holes, counterbores and alignment holes in glass plates or blocks. It is often used for mounting holes, positioning features, fluidic ports and assembly structures.
Grooves and Slots
Grooves and slots can be machined for sealing lines, positioning channels, flow paths, mechanical clearance or assembly requirements. For brittle materials, groove width, depth and edge quality should be reviewed before production.
Pockets and Cavities
CNC milling can create shallow pockets, stepped cavities and recessed areas on glass or glass-ceramic parts. These features are common in microfluidic devices, optical mounts, fixtures and scientific instrument components.
External Contours and Special Shapes
Custom outer profiles can be machined according to drawings. This is useful for non-standard glass windows, shaped substrates, mechanical interface parts and parts that must fit into a defined assembly.
Chamfers and Edge Conditioning
Chamfering and edge grinding help reduce sharp edges and handling risk. Edge condition can be adjusted according to assembly, optical, sealing or safety requirements.
Typical Applications
| Application Field | Example Parts |

Custom Specifications
We accept custom glass CNC machining orders based on drawings, samples or application requirements. Processing can be adjusted according to material hardness, feature size, thickness, tolerance and final use.
For complex precision glass parts, CNC machining can also be combined with glass cutting, laser drilling, chemical etching, double-sided grinding and polishing, glass bonding or optical coating. This allows one glass component to meet both mechanical and functional requirements.
Finished parts can be supplied with dimensional checks, visual inspection and surface quality review according to order requirements.
